I honestly don't know.
His lone Dem SCOTUS vote cemented conservative support for him while his affiliation as a Dem means the left has to vote for him. Unless the Dems are so pissed as to disown him, I'd imagine he's set for the next election.
That said, he's taking a lot of risks crossing the aisle. One wrong move and he could piss off both the right & left.
I don't know if he is brilliant or dumb, skillful or just lucky.
One thing is for certain, he's probably the only true bipartisan politician who can play both sides of the aisle, which in today's US political climate takes a lot of balls.
