As any loyal Star Trek fan is well aware, 2016 marks the 50th anniversary of the franchise. Arriving just in time to commemorate that milestone will be a brand new Star Trek TV series on CBS’ streaming service All-Access, as well as the next installment in the re-imagined franchise, Star Trek Beyond.

While the initial Star Trek Beyond trailer arrived back in December, the film it presented was one that few fans could have expected, to say the least. Since that time however, a new trailer premiered at a special fan event held on the Paramount lot and opinions of what exactly Star Trek Beyond could be like generally seem to have ...

Agents of SHIELD The Inside Man Ward Hive Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3: Hive Concept Art Revealed

The second half of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 was centered for the most part on the resurrected Grant Ward, following his dead body becoming host to the Inhuman known as Hive. Given that ABC already had Brett Dalton in place as Ward, it makes sense that the Hive’s true from wasn’t part of the weekly adventures of Agent Coulson and his team. And, from a purely budgetary standpoint, it makes sense to eventually phase out what little makeup was put on Dalton to give him that slightly zombified look and to pull out all the stops with an emaciated chest piece just in case anyone thought he might get better.

As it turns ...

[This article may contain SPOILERS for Wolverine 3]

Filming is now underway on Wolverine 3 in Louisiana. Supposedly, the third installment in the trilogy will be Hugh Jackman’s final outing as Logan. With a tightly guarded production, though, the plot has become a hotbed for speculation. Initial rumors pointed at the script being loosely related to the Mark Millar/Steve McNiven Old Man Logan story arc – minus the Disney-licensed characters, of course.

A few new details made their way through the grapevine, though, which reveal The Wolverine sequel’s budget. In addition, recent pictures of Hugh Jackman further fan the flames of conjecture with ...

Pitch Perfect 2

pitch perfect 3 director elizabeth banks Pitch Perfect 3 Delayed to December 2017

Pitch Perfect, released in the fall of 2012, was something of a surprise hit. It applied the usual music-underdog movie formula to collegiate a cappella — a musical form mostly untouched by popular culture up to that point — while also delivering humor, pushing feminist/girl-power themes and making a movie star out of Anna Kendrick. It even delivered a hit single, Cups, from Kendrick, not previously known as a singer.

Pitch Perfect 2, released three years later, made even more money than the original — even earning the title of highest-grossing live-action movie-musical in history — so a third film about the Bellas was inevitable. The film was announced last year, and while it’s now coming together, fans will just have ...

Supergirl: Melissa Benoist Talks Season 2 & Flash Romance Rumors

http://ift.tt/1r2dXyB
Supergirl and The Flash

Kara Zor-El and Barry Allen met near the end of Supergirl season 1, in a cross-network crossover episode of Supergirl titled ‘World’s Finest.’ There was plenty of comedy, but the episode felt less like a buddy-cop procedural and more like Kara finding an unexpected peer mentor in Barry, who was happy to find a new ally and friend in Kara. For once, he was the superhuman with more experience at taking down bad guys, thus getting to play the elder statesman role.

‘World’s Finest,’ which saw Barry run fast enough to travel to another Earth in the Multiverse, also provided a 31 percent bump in Supergirl ratings up to 7.2 million viewers. Arguably two of the lighter characters in the DC TV universe, their quirky personalities meshed well together. So much so, in fact, Barry’s presence was enough to make Jimmy Olsen (Kara’s actual crush) jealous.

It ...

Legion FX series X Men TV Show Legion Ordered by FX; First Image Released

As X-Men: Apocalypse wraps up the latest chapter of the X-film saga, 20th Century Fox looks to transition their corner of the Marvel world onto the small screen. Recently, the studio set their sights on creating two new X-universe offshoots, Hellfire and Legion. The latter show, drafted by Fargo creator Noah Hawley, explores Professor X’s son for FX.

Hawley’s take on Legion is a less-traditional, nuanced concept for the X-Men world, one more psychological than straightforward superhero-based. Apparently, his vision, as well as his success with Fargo, translated well to the network heads.

Today, Marvel announced that FX has picked up the first season of Legion. Home to edgier fare like

The Boys Seth Rogen Discusses Adapting The Boys For Cinemax

A lot can be said about Seth Rogen and his long-time collaborator Evan Goldberg. When the two first made it big with their original screenplay, it was with 2007’s teen comedy hit Superbad – a film the duo began writing when they were only 13 years old. Since that time they’ve proven themselves to be capable of turning out memorable comedies.

Most recently, the pair have had their sights set towards television and the somewhat challenging task of adapting Garth Ennis’ Preacher comic book series. As of this writing, it’s still early days for the AMC series but reactions so far have been positive – so much so that both Rogen and Goldberg appear to be looking forward to yet another hefty adaptation challenge.

When Disney released Mary Poppins in 1964, it was a smash hit. The musical film, starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, went on to win 5 Academy Awards, including Best Actress for Andrews, but Walt Disney didn’t have an easy time getting the film to the screen. As is well-dramatized in Saving Mr. Banks, original Mary Poppins creator, P.L. Travers, was fiercely protective of the magical nanny of her creation, and for a long time withheld the rights to any of her Mary Poppins books from Disney. Though she eventually relented, she was allegedly never satisfied with the film or the changes Disney had made; namely to make Mary Poppins a more family-friendly (though still ...

Writer/director Shane Black went back to his roots in modestly-budgeted buddy action/comedy fare with this year’s neo-Noir/detective romp The Nice Guys. 20th Century Fox has now re-positioned The Predator for arrival in February of 2018, clearly hoping that the film will follow in the footsteps of its fellow Fox-distributed R-Rated genre movies Kingsman: The Secret Service and Deadpool, on its way to box ...

Firebombing in Fear the Walking Dead Fear the Walking Dead Showrunner Talks Slow Burn Into the Apocalypse

For one a half seasons, Fear the Walking Dead has explored the events leading up to the cataclysmic collapse of society at the hands of the undead—all from the perspective of one East Los Angeles neighborhood. The show, a prequel/spinoff to AMC’s six-season zombie hit, The Walking Dead, recently aired its season 2 midseason finale and has already been renewed for a third season. Of course, any spin-off series opens itself up to criticism for, quite simply, not living up to the legacy of its predecessor—and Fear the Walking Dead has always had a particularly high bar to live up to.

Fans are already familiar with the zombie universe, painted through the grisly experiences ...

Steven Knight’s period gangster drama Peaky Blinders is as much about atmosphere as it is anything else – and the copious cigarettes smoked by the cast create most of that atmosphere. Whereas TMNT (2014) went through multiple reshoots and script rewrites in response to fan criticisms before reaching theaters, it’s been smoother sailing for the sequel Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows in pre-production; as, thus far, Turtles fans have responded better to the next installment in this franchise.
