With the follow-up to 2014’s live-action reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles just around the corner, hopes are high that the sequel to the classic heroes in a half-shell franchise will generate just as much money, if not more. Jonathan Liebsman, director of the first movie, put together a fun adventure film that retained an essence of the 1980s comic and television cartoon, but also sufficiently updated it for today’s generation, and subsequently made an impressive $493 million.
In fact, execs were so pleased with not only the movie, but with the foresight of future success, they greenlit a sequel almost straight away.
