Captain America: Civil War was always going to be a massive hit for Disney and Marvel, with what is (in many ways) an Avengers movie squeezed into a Steve Rogers/Captain America (played by Chris Evans) solo outing; and then, combining those elements with Cap’s overarching storyline from Captain America: The First Avenger and the politically-laced Captain America: The Winter Solider. And as predicted, the release of the thirteenth Marvel Studios movie saw it shoot straight to the number one spot at the box office, with a huge turnout for its opening day and weekend release.
Now, just a month into its theatrical run, Civil War has not only topped $1 billion at the worldwide box office, but it will soon be the highest-grossing movie of the year, both domestically and at the global box office.
