Fans have been waiting for Battle Angel for years. James Cameron was developing the film, but the overwhelming success of Avatar shifted his attention to developing that film’s multiple sequels instead. Cameron finally stepped back from the director’s chair last year, allowing Robert Rodriguez to take over so that the movie might finally get some forward momentum.
Just last month, it was reported that the list of possible stars had been narrowed down to three names, Zendaya, Rosa Salazar, and It Follows star Maika Monroe. Now, one of those three has been chosen to play the cyborg protagonist Alita in the film: Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials‘ Rosa Salazar.
